The Triangle Takeoff Coalition was formed during the pandemic to bring together prominent business leaders who recognize that the recovery of Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is critical to maintaining the Research Triangle’s status as one of the best places in the country to live and work.
A 2019 N.C. DOT study found that RDU is an economic engine that supports nearly 100,000 jobs and has an annual impact of $15.1 billion on the regional economy. It is a vital transportation hub that connects people to the places they want to visit and companies to cities where they want to do business. A thriving airport is also a recruitment tool for companies who want to expand or relocate to the Triangle.
The Coalition is the first organization of its kind dedicated to supporting the recovery of the airport that serves its companies and communities. Its signature initiative was the “Carry On” campaign, which reached more than 25 million people in six months to encourage returning to the skies for business and leisure travel, post-pandemic.
Our region is home to untold great ideas and exceptional experiences. It’s time to let those ideas fly and those experiences lift us up. So, Triangle, make your connection.
The Triangle Takeoff Coalition was formed with five goals in mind:
Expanding global connectivity at RDU Airport
Maintaining the Triangle's status as a top place to live, work and visit
Providing access to peers in the business community
Raising the public profile of member companies
Demonstrating corporate and social responsibility
